Robina Bookkeeping: How’s Your Home Based Business?
Here’s a warning for any Robina home-based Business; it seems that the Gold Coast City Council finance department have found another source of funds from local Robina home owners.
The GCCC recently forced a homebased Tupperware business owner to lodge a development application to operate her business from home. Apparently the neighbours complained about the amount of traffic that the business was creating.
Ms Hert, who recently revealed to The Bulletin that she earned more than $200,000 a year from her Tupperware business, said she was shocked that she had been forced to apply for a development application.
“I’ve been informed that the infrastructure charges will be $13,000,” said Ms Hert. “If you add the cost of the planners and application fees, I’m looking at $21,000.
“If we were doing something wrong that is fine but we haven’t. In a good month, I might have seven people through the house.”
Something somewhere doesn’t stack up. If she had to go to work five days a week, there’d be more traffic movement in the street. One wonders how many other home-based business owners will GCCC be targeting.
